Coronary artery bypass unit

This is a nine-bed step down unit for patients following Coronary Artery Bypass surgery. After a minimum of 16 hours in CCU, the patient is transferred to this unit. While the main focus is on the care of post –operative bypass patient, we do care for patients with chest pain or post operative vascular surgeries. Three North is the only unit of this type in the Cenla area. This unit has a director and has an all Registered Nurse team. All the RNs have Advance Cardiac Life Support certification and a special education in the care of post-operative Coronary Artery Bypass patients. A case manager works with the cardiovascular surgeon, the cardiologist, and the patients pre-operatively and post-operatively to ensure each patient and his/her family members are educated. This unit is very proud of the high patient satisfaction scores they receive monthly.
