Telemetry unit
This is a 41 bed unit operated 24 hours per day, including 32 regular cardiac admissions and 9 beds for post cardiac procedure patients. There are 64 available telemetry transmitters to monitor and document the electrical activity of the heart as reflected by changes in electrical potential at the skin surface. The equipment also has the capacity for 24 hour full disclosure and derived 12 lead EKGs.
This Unit provides specialized nursing care for the adult medical/surgical patient requiring more intensive monitoring and treatment than on a general medical/surgical nursing unit. The most frequent diagnosis are: CAD, CHF, MI, Angina, and Cardiopulmonary conditions.
The team for Telemetry Unit is comprised of a Director, Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nurse Assistant, and Telemetry technicians. A case managaer works diligently with the physicians and nurses in the plan of care and implementation of that care for each patient.
