Labor and delivery
The Labor and Delivery Unit is a unit specializing in the comprehensive care of the obstetrical patient. The unit is made up of labor/delivery/recovery (LDR) rooms, high-risk monitoring rooms, a surgery suite for cesarean sections and obstetrical procedures, and a post anesthesia care unit.
All the Labor and Delivery nurses are certified in intermediate and advanced fetal monitoring, as well as neonatal resuscitation. Many of the nursing staff holds a national certification in Inpatient Obstetrics.
An important focus of Labor and Delivery is the management of pain. The staff is specially trained in doula/comfort measures. Laboring patients are taught special comfort control while they are in labor which include individualized plans of care. Some special techniques include rocking, walking, aroma therapy, music/sound therapy, aqua therapy, muscle relaxation techniques, massage, heat/cold pack therapy, orthopedic ball and many more.

- Antepartum testing
- Preterm labor management
- Pregnancy induced hypertensive disorders
- Cervical incompetence management
- All other high-risk obstetrical complications
