Women’s and children’s services
Pediatric Cardiology
Pediatric cardiology services have been part of the continuum of care for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for several years. Initially, monthly clinics were started to follow up babies that had cardiac problems that had been in the NICU. Over the years the service has grown tremendously.
Now, weekly clinics are held in the NICU clinic area to see children of all ages with heart problems. Pediatric cardiology specialists from New Orleans and Baton Rouge work in conjunction with local pediatricians and neonatologists to care for these children. High level cardiac testing is available, including a real time telecommunication service with Ochsners in New Orleans that allows us to perform on site echocardiograms which are being seen and read by the specialists there. Please contact your pediatrician or the hospital for more information.
