Total Wound Treatment Center

The Total Wound Treatment Center at CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital offers a full-service program serving the needs of inpatients and outpatients with specific medical problems. These problems include "the bends," carbon monoxide poisoning, smoke inhalation, radiation tissue damage, chronic bone infection and non-healing wounds.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is defined as the delivery of 100 percent oxygen under pressures which are two to three times normal atmospheric pressure. The patient is placed entirely into a chamber and breathes the oxygen under pressure. Treatment sessions last approximately two hours and are given five to six days a week. Most patients undergo between 10 and 30 treatment sessions.

The Total Wound Treatment Center is staffed with physicians, nurses and technicians who have received specialized training and is the only unit of its kind serving Central Louisiana.
